Fault description
The main symptom of a faulty MITSUBISHI L39C 18 9E1C control unit is the car dropping into limp mode. That mode limits engine power and vehicle speed to prevent further damage and let the driver reach a workshop safely. The vehicle may be hard to start, because the damaged control unit passes signals incorrectly. The engine may run unevenly, with noticeable power drops or jerking, caused by incorrect control of fuel injection and ignition. A control unit failure can also light up the engine warning lamp on the dashboard to alert the driver. Faulty control unit operation may lead to sub-optimal combustion, and therefore to increased fuel consumption.
